After Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen broke apart in 1976 (or 1977), guitarist Bill Kirchen formed The Moonlighters with these 6 other guys. This album still has a Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen / New Riders of the Purple Sage feel, country-ish, with a bit of cajun, western swing, R&B, rock & roll.

The Moonlighters - RUSH HOUR, 1983 original UK press Demon LP, $75 + S / H
1983 original made in the UK Demon Records LP pressing #FIEND 10, cover M-, NO seam or spine splits, NO cut-out markings, NO ring-wear, vinyl M-, NO scratches, plays excellent. Down to 4 band members (still with Bill Kirchen-guitar) & after 6 years, this is their 2nd (& last) album. This beauty sounds like Elvis Costello Soul R&B Pop Rock (produced by Nick Lowe, who else?) with some Delbert McClinton. A couple sound like the ol' Commander Cody.

This was Cody's 2nd solo album after The Lost Planet Airmen went their separate ways in 1976 (although we did see the band together play live again at The Armadillo Reunion in 1992 in Austin, Texas where Bill Kirchen also played with his band Too Much Fun, + The New Riders of the Purple Sage, and many others, and it was a treat!). We have a 2nd, better condition copy on the Whiz Kids (Michigan artists) page.
