Billy Pepper and The Pepperpots ~ MERSEYMANIA, 1964 original UK press Allegro LP, $258 + S / H
1964 original made in the UK Allegro Records LP pressing #ALL 731, laminted cover VG+, NO seam or spine splits, NO cut-out markings, NO ring-wear, shelf wear, wear on edges & corners, some staining on back, vinyl M-, NO scratches, plays excellent. This is actually a really great pop rock album! Bogus Beatles exploitation session band led by Billy (William Campbell) Shepherd, who was a prolific songwriter even in 1963, '64 as you can see from the labels, went on to greater fame in late 1966 when he... allegedly replaced the original Paul McCartney in late 1966. On 9 / 11 / 1966 (either Sept. 11 or Nov. 9, 1966) according to several people, including the late George Harrison and Ringo Starr (who both have said on film) that the original Paul was killed in a car crash and it was the fake Paul, or Faul (as Harrison called him) that made the Sgt. Pepper album (released in June 1967) and the rest was history...! The clues are all there, in the lyrics, on the album covers, and on & on... Notice how on this LP Billy Pepper (later rebranded Billy Shears on the Sgt. Pepper LP) & his gang "warm up" with "real" Beatles songs on each side, then roar on with original songs, sounding almost like The Fab Four, it's amazing!!! It was Paul who left 1st... Maybe this is really why they stopped live touring in late 1966? He had to "learn" all the bass playing chords! What a great movie this would make! Calling Hollywood...
